| In the Cwm Bychan valley, within 1 mile of the
artist's home, this collection of old buildings are all that is
left of an old tannery. The two buildings stand beside a vigorous
stream that flows into the artro river.
The larger of the two buildings, now almost collapsed, shows traces
of machinery used in tannery. The second building, the one in the
painting, was the engine house, housing the great wheel driven by
a leat that powered the industry.
Now the sheep take shelter there in the rain.
