The Flashing light comprises of
4 powerful coloured LED diodes housed within a waterproof
glass ball, and mounted on the hand.
The photovoltaic cell needed to
provide a trickle charge for a lead acid battery that is housed
within a sealed waterproof and vandal proof compartment in
the base of the sculpture.
A small transmitter and receiver
capable of functioning over 200 metres is incorporated into
the design.
The transmitter is linked to a port on a computer and transmits
an appropriate signal dependent upon which of 4 pins is
active. The received signal on the sculpture activates a
switch which turns on the appropriate coloured light.

All the components are available 'off the shelf',
