| When a city sleeps, it dreams. This is the stage
when work ceases, the factories and offices close and the individuals
return to their homes. There the talking begins, reciting the events
of the day, the TV is switched on, people make their way to the
pubs, the stadia, the games courts, and the ‘entertainment’
begins. Theatres, cinemas music halls and churches fill up with
people who are experiencing ‘by proxy’. Millions are
laughing, sighing, feeling afraid all at the same time.
This is the city dreaming. Dreaming in myths involving supermen
who win against the odds, beautiful princess who turns the beast
into a prince with a kiss. Heroes who can stride 10 leagues. All
our games and programmes can probably be reduces to about 10 different
basic myths.
